French people fall in love again with secondary residences
The health crisis has revitalized the provincial secondary residences market. Indeed, French people’s lifestyle has been disrupted, especially with the intensification of remote working. Thereby they noticed that a secondary residence would help them to find a life balance and invest financially in the long term.

But who are the buyers? They are young and movable, used to prestige rentals proposed on platforms such as Airbnb, and seeking properties ready to be inhabited. The situation is ideal for purchasing: prices haven’t increased a lot since 2017, buyers are motivated and there are lots of properties. Moreover, a new trend is merging: the interest for exceptional and luxury properties, “such as a large estate sold €3.7 millions on the heights of Perpignan, a villa at the seaside sold around €9 millions in Arcachon Bay, a property sold more than €2.6 in Brittany…” Sotheby’s International Realty France – Monaco CEO Alexander Kraft says.
