Sir Peter Ustinov: Actor / Collector

Sotheby's will pay tribute to Oscar-winning actor, playwright, wit, aesthete and collector Sir Peter Ustinov this July in Paris. Throughout his life, he had many faces, both public and private. He died almost twenty years ago, leaving the world a legacy of many achievements, captured both on film and on the written page.

A first session will pay tribute to Nadia and Alexandre Benois, his mother and great-uncle respectively, through some fifty drawings by these two twentieth-century artists.

A second session will focus exclusively on Sir Peter Ustinov, through his art collection featuring names such as Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Felix Vallotton, as well as objects and memorabilia from his life as an artist.

The sale dedicated entirely to his collection will also be organized in two sessions, one of which will be online. It includes objects from his residences in France and Switzerland, works of art from his collection and a selection of old master drawings, not to mention film memorabilia and annotated scripts.
