Old Masters Evening Sale

In July, Sotheby’s will organize a sale introducing Old Masters. An amazing selection of early Netherlandish paintings from a private Spanish collection will be sold. There will be masterpieces by some of the finest artists of the late 16th and 17th centuries, such as Jan Brueghel the Elder, Balthasar van der Ast and Ambrosius Bosschaert. Many come from the collection of Schuybroek family. There will also be many British masterpieces from private collections, most of them fresh to the market. Among them, a hunting scene by John Wootton, a portrait of the young William IV by Benjamin West, a triple portrait of Emma Hamilton, and a majestic seascape by one of the best British painters, J.M.W. Turner but also a portrait of the artist Cornelis de Vos and his family by Sir Anthony van Dyck, and a grand still life, in excellent condition, by Willem Kalf.
