Realty: more and more foreign buyers in Paris?
Whether it's for an investment, a pied-a-terre or a residence, buyers from abroad are still attracted like a magnet to Paris.

The top 5 nationalities are Chinese, Italian, British, German and American, with notably a strong comeback from the latter. According to Alexander Kraft, CEO of Sotheby's International Realty France-Monaco, "France’s economic and financial stability has also encouraged many French and Europeans to buy in Paris, for the city still offers opportunities at attractive prices when compared to other major cities in the world”.

Also according to Alexander Kraft, the influx of Chinese buyers is significant at the top end of the market. "Up till now they were purchasing realty in the mid range, and were relatively few and far between. Despite a slowdown in the Chinese economy, it appears that this clientele is once again looking for alternative investments”.

The significant number of British buyers is also notable, and contributes to the rise in prices in Paris. With the return of not only French expats but also investors, a "Brexit effect" seems to be having at least some influence on the market.
