Next September, Sotheby’s launches new artistic appointments: Influencing the Arts, which will showcase a series of works, in all disciplines, representing a historical figure who marked Art. The first sale will be about Napoléon, for it is the bicentenary of his death. He dominated the arts of his time, laying out the contours of a new aesthetic destined for the expression of his own glorification. Today, his iconography still is testament to his worldwide influence.
