Contemporary Art - Evening Sale
After numerous successful auctions dedicated to Contemporary Art, Sotheby's
Paris brought together a new collection of post-war and contemporary art.
The sale took place in two sessions at the prestigious Sotheby's France Galerie
Charpentier in the capital’s rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, and once again the
world-famous auction house excelled in the sale of contemporary art.
Artists included Alexander Calder, the renowned American sculptor and painter
known for his mobiles and his work with French artist Marcel Duchamp,
Chinese artist Zao Wou-Ki renowned for his large abstract canvases, as well as
French painter, engraver and sculptor Pierre Soulages.
The two sessions brought together many new works, and particularly the
Evening Sale which included 15 of the 37 lots on sale. The sale took the total in
contemporary art for the first semester of 2019 at Sotheby's in Paris to 43
million euro.
